Zimmer Net Lone Goal vs. Canton

Team lined up to block a kick.

Kory Zimmer (Livonia) scored the lone goal for Alfred State as they fell 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at SUNY Canton.

Canton's Edward Malinoski scored a pair of 1st half goals to jump out to a 2-0 lead at the half. Marc Ramirez was credited with an assist on the first and Kyle Smith had the assist on the second. The Roos held a 6 to 2 shot advantage in the half.

The Pioneers got the office going in the 2nd half as they outshot Canton 11 to 2. Zimmer was the only Pioneer to find the back of the net when he scored in the 61st minute to cut the lead in half. The blue & gold kept the pressure on but couldn't get the equalizer.

Connor Campbell made five saves to earn the win for Canton (6-7-1) while Johnny Starzee (Babylon/West Babylon) made two saves in just over 82 minutes of action in net.

The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Hilbert for a 3 p.m. start.
