Geneva scored a pair of 1st half goals as the Golden Tornadoes earned the 2-0 victory over Alfred State on Tuesday afternoon.
Kevin Pasho got Geneva on the board 23:08 into the game when he was able to slip a shot past the keeper after a nice set-up pass by Liam O'Halloran. Twelve minutes later Nate Beine doubled the lead when he took a header from Chase Baxa and found the back of the net.
Both teams had chances in the 2nd half but the goalkeepers kept the score 2-0. The Golden Tornadoes held a 13 to 5 shot advantage in the contest. Luke Nolan made four saves to earn the shutout victory for Geneva (6-7-1) while Nico Coria (Honeoye Falls Lima) made eight stops for the blue & gold (3-9-2).
The Pioneers are back in action on Thursday when they head across the county to take on Houghton. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start at the Kerr-Pegula Athletic Complex.
