Pioneers Fall in Home Opener

Justin Butler scored on a penalty kick in the 42nd minute as Wells defeated Alfred State 1-0 in the home opener for the Pioneers.

Wells hed a 7-5 shot advantage in the 1st half while Alfred State carried the ball more in the 2nd half and held a 7-3 advantage. The Pioneers had 10 corner kicks opportunities, including seven in the 2nd half, but could not capitalize.

Colton Jaquith made seven saves to record the shutout for Wells while Nico Coria (Honeoye Falls Lima) made four saves for the blue & gold.

The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday when they host Nazareth at 7 p.m.
