Franciscan scored a pair of 1st half goals as they defeated Alfred State 2-0 in the AMCC opener for both teams.
Nick Miller scored 28:10 into the game when his shot from just outside the box found the top of the net. Mark Fioramonti and Joe Muldoon set up the goal.
Ian Baldau made it 2-0 just over six minutes later when he was able to head in a crossing pass from Andrew James.
The Barons (5-1-1, 1-0 AMCC) held a 21-10 shot advantage. Brian Gaughan made seven saves to record the shutout while Nico Coria (Honeoye Falls Lima) made nine saves for the blue & gold.
The Pioneers have a week off before hosting Penn State Altoona next Saturday. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. start at Pioneer Stadium.
