Pioneers Fly by Hawks

The Alfred State men's soccer team scored a 4-1 victory at Hilbert on Tuesday afternoon. Anthony Smith (Colden/Springville) scored a pair of goals in the victory.

Ade Adesanya (Brooklyn/Progress) got the Pioneers on the board in the 8th minute when he scored after getting a chipped in pass from Camren Larabee (Cuba Rushford). 

Hilbert tied it in the 21st minute when Brandon Bundschuh scored on a penalty kick.

Smith's first goal of the game just under five minutes later when his hard shot found the top corner of the net. Adesanya picked up the assist. Larabee made it 3-1 heading into halftime when he was able to slide a shot to the back of the net after getting a feed from the sideline from Noah Holmok (Alfred Almond).

Smith put the game out of reach in the 54th minute when he got the ball after a high chip pass by David Benson (Clifton Park/Shenendowa) got over the goalies hands leaving him wide open for the goal.

The Pioneers held a 32 to 7 shot advantage in the game. Nate Moulton (Madrid Waddington) made four saves in net in the 1st half while Nico Coria (Honeoye Falls Lima) didn't allow a goal in the 2nd half.

The blue & gold return home on Saturday when they host Pitt Greensburg at 2 p.m.
