Panthers Rally to Defeat Pioneers in AMCC Opener

Pitt-Bradford scored three unanswered goals in the final twenty minutes to rally for a 4-3 victory over Alfred State in the AMCC opener for both teams.

Jan Winnewisser got the Panthers on the board early when he scored just 1:38 into the game.

The Pioneers bounced back and outshot the Bradford 11 to 5 in the 1st half. Jack Leahy (Pittsford Sutherland) tied it up 27:30 into the game and then set up Leng Van (Buffalo/Maryvale) just under two minutes to give Alfred State a 2-1 lead.

Just over ten minutes into the 2nd half, Nuri Sarbudak (Pittsford Mendon) made it 3-1 after getting a pass from Juan Ruiz (Port Chester).

The Panthers were able to turn the tables and outshot Alfred State 12 to 7 in the 2nd half. Austin Hogan scored in the 71st minute and Brent Kennedy tied it after getting a feed from Winnewisser in the 80th minute.

Scott Compson scored the game winner with 6:35 remaining after getting a pass from Kennedy.

Sihle Sizani made four saves to earn the win for UPB in net. Thad Grierson (Perry) made five saves for ASC.

Alfred State is back on the field tomorrow when they play a non-conference game vs. Utica. The match is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
