Solid Team Effort Leads Pioneers Past Bobcats

Alfred State used a solid team effort in a 2-0 victory over Pitt Greensburg on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers improve to 4-7 overall and 1-2 in AMCC play.

The Pioneers scored a goal in each half and outshot the Bobcats 12 to 10 in the contest.

Jean Baptiste Kagde (Rocheseter/Early College) was able to quickly take a turnover and put it in the back of the net in the 33rd minute.

The game remained 1-0 until the 75th minute when Andres Mateos (Batavia) followed up on deflection by Camren Larabee (Cuba Rushford) to make it 2-0. Jack Leahy (Pittsford Sutherland) started the attack with the cross towards the goal.

Thad Grierson (Perry) made the lead stand as he recorded his second career shutout with eight saves.

The blue & gold have a week off before heading to Valley Forge for a 3 p.m. contest next Saturday.
