Pioneers Swim Past Panthers

The Alfred State mens' swimming & diving team earned their second AMCC dual meet victory with a 113-59 victory at Pitt-Bradford on Friday night.

Ethan Dale (Lock Haven, PA) won the 200 IM (1:00.14) and the 100 breast (1:04.99) to lead the Pioneers. Overall the team won five of the nine individual events.

Austin Eckrich (Rochester/Churchville Chili) won the 1,000 free (11:47.35), Ryan McDowell (Gananda) won the 50 free (23.32), and Tim Olin (Perry) won the 100 back (1:01.42).

The 400 free relay team of Aaron Priel (Pioneer), Patrick McFadden (Midlakes), Anthony Kahwaty (Jefferson Township, NJ), and Alexander Gargano (Hilton) won in 3:57.21 while the 200 medley relay team of Olin, Dale, Nate Miller (Gananda), and McDowell won in 1:44.66.

Olin earned 2nd in the 200 free (2:00.24), McDowell was 2nd in the 100 fly (58.30), Eckrich was 2nd in the 100 free (55.22), Miller was 2nd in the 100 back (1:04.07), and Gargano was 2nd in the 100 breast (1:11.55).

Alfred State is back in action next Saturday when they host the Pioneer Invitational. Swimming events start at 1 p.m. in the Orvis Pool with diving starting following the competion of swimming at approximately 4 p.m. at Alfred University.
