Miller Qualifies for NCAA Diving Regionals

Austin Miller (Hornell) won the 1m diving competition and qualified for the NCAA DIII Diving Regionals on day two of the AMCC Championships. Miller and the Pioneers sit in 2nd place with 160 points.

Miller set a new personal and school record in the 11-dive format. He scored 440.80 points to take the top spot.

The 200 free relay team of Ryan McDowell (Gananda), Nate Miller (Gananda), Tim Olin (Perry), and Ryan Brophy (Midlakes) finished 2nd to start of the night. They touched the timing block in 1:31.80. The 400 medley relay team of Olin, Ethan Dale (Lock Haven, PA), Miller, and McDowell capped the night by finishing 3rd in 3:43.19.

Dale was also 2nd in the 200 IM by shaving off 1.42 seconds from the preliminaries with a swim of 2:00.00.

Other top performances included:

  • Olin was 4th in the 50 free (22.53)
  • McDowell was 9th in the event (2:08.41).
  • Miller was 7th in the 50 free (22.93) while Aaron Priel (Pioneer) was 8th in the 50 free (23.97)
  • Austin Eckrich (Churchville Chili) was 9th in the 500 free (5:08.20).

The hosts Penn State Behrend lead with 316 points followed by Alfred State. Pitt Bradford is 3rd (90), Penn State Altoona 4th (85), and SUNY Delhi 5th (44).

Day three action begins at 10 a.m. with preliminaries followed by diving at 1 p.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
