Pioneers Remain in 2nd Heading into Final Day of AMCC Championships

The Alfred State men's swimming and diving team remained in 2nd place after day three of competition at the AMCC Championships. The Pioneers have scored 288 total points thus far.

The 200 medley relay team of Tim Olin (Perry), Ethan Dale (Lock Haven, PA), Nate Miller (Gananda), and Aaron Priel (Pioneer) started off the day with a 2nd place finish (1:41.66).

Dale took the AMCC crown with a victory in the 400 IM. He swam nearly four seconds faster in the finals and won by .17 by touching the block in 4:17.62.

Other top performances included:

  • Olin was 3rd in the 100 back (55.75)
  • Anthony Kahwaty (Jefferson Township, NJ) was 4th in the 100 breast (1:04.46)
  • Alexander Gargano (Hilton) was 5th in the 400 IM (4:58.21) and 7th in the 100 breast (1:05.74)
  • Miller was 5th in the 100 fly (55.31)
  • Austin Eckrich (Churchville Chili) was 8th in the 200 free (1:53.36)
  • Ryan Brophy (Midlakes) was 8th in the 100 back (1:03.95).

The hosts Penn State Behrend lead with 593 points followed by Alfred State. Pitt Bradford is 3rd (162), Penn State Altoona 4th (149), and SUNY Delhi 5th (83).

Day four action begins at 10 a.m. with preliminaries followed by diving at 1 p.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
