Austin Miller Ready to compete at NCAA Diving Reigonal

Miller to Dive in NCAA Regional this Weekend

Alfred State sophomore Austin Miller (Hornell) heads to RIT this weekend to compete in the 2019 NCAA Division III Region 4 Diving Championships. Miller will compete in both the 1m and 3m competitions.

Miller qualified for the NCAA Regional with personal best performances at the AMCC Championships. He won the 1m with a score of 440.80 and the 3m with a score of 484.45 at the championships and his scores met the standard to compete at the NCAA level. For his efforts, Miller was named the AMCC Diver of the Year.

Coach RC Weston is excited to see what Miller can do this weekend. "Austin has grown so much as a diver and as an athlete since last season. You can really see a difference in his performances as he progressed throughout the year and he has set himself up for a great opportunity as the first NCAA postseason qualifier in Alfred State history. I give so much credit to Coach (Nick) Beach for an outstanding job working with our divers this year. I can't wait to see all of Austin's hard work pay off this weekend. It should be fun!"

24 total divers from the four regional competitions will qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships which will be held March 20 - 22 in Greensboro, NC.

On Friday (3/1), Miller will compete with 22 other competitors on the 1m board starting at 2 p.m. He moves the 3m board on Saturday (3/2) and will battle with 21 other student-athletes.
