Pioneers Sweep Tri-Meet

The Alfred State men's swimming & diving team won both ends of a tri-match vs. Buffalo State and Fredonia on Saturday. The Pioneers defeated Buffalo State 141-115 and Fredonia 138-132.

Matt Walker (Kenmore West) was a triple individual event winner. He won the 200 free in 1:49.52 to set a new NCAA DIII era record. He also won the 200 breast in 2:18.96 and the 200 IM (2:05.25).

Westin Perry (Canisteo Greenwood) and Ryan Jobe (Gananda) each won a pair of events. Perry won the 100 back in 56.47 and the 200 back in 2:04.86. He was also 2nd in the 50 free (23.31). Jobe won the 1m diving competition with a score of 119.93 and the 3m with 127.73 points.

Nate Miller (Gananda) won the 100 breast in 1:04.73 and was 3rd in the 100 fly (57.28) while Ethan Dale (Lock Haven, PA) was 2nd in both the 200 breast (2:27.00) and the 200 IM (2:09.82) and was 3rd in the 200 fly (2:09.02).

Austin Eckrich (Churchville Chili) was 2nd in both the 1,000 free (11:02.94) and the 500 free (5:18.46), Stuart Yates (Naples) was 2nd in the 100 breast (1:06.76) while Anthony Kahwaty (Jefferson Township, NJ) was 3rd in the 100 breast (1:07.67)

The 200 medley relay team of Perry, Dale, Miller, and Walker finished 2nd in 1:42.71.

The Pioneers head to Penn State Altoona in two weeks for a AMCC meet.
