Kemsley and Wadsworth Earn Wins in Season Opener.

Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) and Jacob Wadsworth (Dansville) earned individual victories as the Alfred State indoor track & field team opened up the season at the Houghton College December Classic.

Kemsley picked up from where he left off during his freshman campaign by winning the weight throw with a toss of 15.87 m and the shot put with a mark of 14.30 m. Wadsworth opened up his collegiate career by winning the high jump with a leap of 1.92 m

Jacob Drew (Corning Painted Post) was 3rd in the 800 (2:02.34) while Austin Demberg (Westtown/Minisink Valley) was 7th (2:10.04). Matthew Connolly (Elmira Notre Dame) was 4th in the 5000 (16:55.16) while Joe Kretschmar was 7th (18:00.92), and Ryan Lohr (West Seneca) was 8th (18:09.64).

Collin Stauffer (LeRoy) was 5th in the triple jump (12.83 m) and 8th in the long jump (6.01 m) while Michael Allender (Youngstown/Lewiston Porter) was 5th in the 60 m dash (7.34).

Tomorrow the multi athletes will compete at Edinboro to wrap up the 2018 portion of the season. The full team returns to action on January 18th back at Houghton.
