Pioneers Ready for the ECAC Championships

The Alfred State indoor track & field heads to the Armory in New York City this weekend to compete in the 2019 ECAC Championships.

Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) and the multi athletes will look to lead the way in the competition that features athletes from over 30 colleges.

  • Kemsley enters the weight throw with the top performance in the meet. His top throw of the year is 17.15 m.
  • Six Pioneers will compete in the heptathlon. Jacob Wadsworth (Dansville) enters the competition with a high of 4,029 points in the event while Andrew Ruebenstahl (Washingtonville) has scored a high of 3,859, and Tim Berry (Midlakes) has a scored a high of 3,858. Wadsworth will also compete in the high jump. He enters the meet with a leap of 1.92 m.
  • A trio of Pioneers will compete in the pentathlon led by Emily Brigman (Lancaster). Brigman has a high of 2,548 in the event this season and will be joined by Marissa Sly (N. Tonawanda) and Julia Yanarella (Wappingers Falls/Roy Ketcham) in the event. Sly has a high score of 2,123 on the year while Yanarella has scored 1,796.

Other athletes competing include:

  • Jacob Drew (Corning Painted Post) will run in the 800 m and the 1,000 m. He enters with a season best time of 1:57.44 in the 800 and 2:38.92 in the 1,500.
  • Michael Allender (Youngstown/Lew-Port) and Cameron Howard (Brockport) will run in the 60 m. Allender has a season best time of 7.24 while Howard's best is 7.25.
  • In relay action, both the men's and women's team will compete in the Distance Medley Relay while the men's 4x200 relay team will be in action.

Action begins tomorrow (3/1) at 1 p.m. and continues at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday (3/2). Athletes from over 30 teams are scheduled to compete.
