Pioneers Open up Outdoor Season at Geneseo

The Alfred State track & field team opened up the outdoor portion of their season at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational. 

Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) and Jacob Wadsworth) led the way for the men. Kemsley was 2nd in the discus with a toss of 49.63 m and 8th in the hammer throw (45.76 m) while Wadsworth was 2nd in the high jump (1.89 m) and 9th in the 110 hurdles (17.24).

Zion Ponder was 3rd in the high jump (1.89 m) while Jesse Johnson was 5th (1.84 m). Ponder was also 4th in the triple jump (12.85 m)..Joe Kretschmar (Phoenix, AZ) was 8th in the 10,000 (38.38.98). 

The 4x400 relay team of Wadsworth, Jacob Drew (Corning Painted Post), Austin Demberg (Westtown/Minisink Valley), and Sirgorerio Thomas finished 4th in 3:39.80 while the 4x100 relay team of Wadsworth, Cameron Howard (Brockport), Michael Allender (Lewiston Porter), and Thomas finished in 5th (45.45).

Emily Brigman (Lancaster) was 4th in the high jump (1.53 m) to lead the way for the women's team. Katherine Frascella (Franklinville) was 7th in the 3000 steeplechase (1:20.69), Marissa Sly (N. Tonawanda) was 11th in the 100 hurdles (17.79), and Katherine O'Buckley (Queens/Francis Lewis) was 14th in the 400 hurdles (1:20.69)

The Pioneers will next compete in the Allegany County Classic. Alfred State will host the running and jumping events while Houghton will host the throwing events.
