Awards stand for the triple jump

Pioneers Compete in Day One of CSAC Championships

The Alfred State men's track & field team had a solid showing on day one of the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championships. The team registered 12 top eight finishes.

Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) led four Pioneers who finished in the top eight in the hammer throw. He was 2nd with a throw of 42.55 m. Jonathan Banks (Buffalo/Cheektowaga) was 5th (35.70 m), Bryce Chapman (Geneseo) was 7th (33.18 m), and Ryan Mattison (Brockport) was 8th (24.40 m).

Zion Ponder was 2nd in the triple jump with a leap of 13.75 m while Collin Stauffer (LeRoy) was 3rd (12.44 m). Stauffer was also 7th in the javelin (36.90 m).

Joe Kretschmar was 3rd in the 10,000 (38:17.05), Nikolas Brown (Wellsville) was 3rd in the javelin (40.69 m), Matthew Connolly (Elmira Notre Dame) was 4th in the 10,000 (38:19.54), Andrew Ruebenstahl (Washingtonville) was 7th in the pole vault (3.80 m), and Austin Miller (Hornell) was 7th in the 1,500 (4:34.80).

In the 100 prelims, Jacob Wadsworth (Dansville) was 3rd in 11.05, Stauffer was 6th (11.23), and Sirgoererio Thomas-Ray was 8th (11.29). In the 200 prelims, Wadsworth was 3rd (22.54) and Cameron Howard (Brockport) was 7th (23.42).

Day 2 of the CSAC Championships starts at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at Keystone College.
