Wadsworth Breaks School Record in Heptathlon

Jacob Wadsworth (Dansville) broke the Alfred State school record in the heptathlon as he finished 2nd at the Mike Kowal Invitational at Edinboro.

Wadsworth finished the seven events with 4,564 points which breaks the previous record of 4,441 held by Travis Nagle (2013). It also improves his collegiate best of 4,439 from his freshman campaign. He is now the 2nd ranked multi athlete in NCAA DIII.

On day two, Wadsworth scored 817 points in the 1,000 with a run of 2:45.13 and 644 points in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.48. 

Derek Stein (Horseheads) was 6th in the competition with 3,402 points. He scored 564 points in the 1,000 (3:10.63) and 480 points in the 60 hurdles (10.33).

The Mike Kowal heptathlon featured nine competitors. Wadsworth was the top NCAA DIII athlete.

The Pioneers end the 2019 portion of their season at Houghton on Friday evening.
