Wadsworth Wins Heptathlon

Jacob Wadsworth (Dansville) solidfied his place at the NCAA DIII National Championships by winning the heptathlon at the All Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships on Saturday.

Wadsworth finished the seven event, two-day competition with a career and school best 4,951 points. He scored 853 points in the 1,000 m with a run of 2:40.90 and 781 points with a time of 8.84 in the 60 m hurdles to highlight the three events competed on day two of the event. His total score was an improvement of 173 points from his last performance at the Brockport Open. He now sits in 10th in the country in the event.

Cameron Chambers (East Rochester) finished 16th in the 800 m in 1:58.70 while Zack Rudewicz-Nepokroeff (Williamsville East) was 21st in the long jump with a leap of 6.27 m.

Emma Taggart (New Windsor, MD) returned to action after finishing 2nd in the pentathlon yesterday and finsihed 11th in the high jump with a best mark of 1.55 m.

The men's team finished the competition featuring 43 teams in 20th place with 10 points while the women finished 21st out of 41 teams with 8 points.

Official word of the participants of the NCAA DIII National Championships will be announced tomorrow afternoon.
