Walter Finishes 10th in Decathlon

On Thursday and Friday, Derek Walter competed in the Susquehanna Multi & Easter Invite. It was Walter's finished first career decathlon and he finished in 10 place.

On Thursday Walter finished 4th in the 100m with a time of 11.29. In the long jump, he had a distance of 5.98m, good enough for 11th in that event. In the shot put, he had a throw of 8.85m landing him in 12th for that event. In the high jump, Walter had a distance of 1.56m, good enough for 14th in the event. In the last event of Thursday, Walter finished in 6th place in the 400m with a time of 52.49. Heading into Friday, Walter found himself in 9th place of the decathlon leaderboard.

Day 2 of the decathlon began with the 110m hurdles, Walter finished in 7th place with a finishing time 0f 16.55. The day continued with a discus throw, with Derek Walter's throw of 18.71m landing himself in 16th place for that event. The pole vault followed and Walter had a height of 2.75m in that event, good enough for a tie of 12th place. Walter competed in the javelin throw, which was the second-to-last event of the day. Walter recorded a throw of 43.11m which landed him in 6th place. In the 1500m to round out the day, Walter finished in 7th place with a race time of 4:53.02. 

Derek Walter finished his first career decathlon in 10th place.
