Lady Pioneers Drop Opening Pair in Myrtle

The Alfred State softball team lost a 13-8 decision to Massasoit (MA) CC in their opener at Snowbird Softball in Myrtle Beach, SC and then fell 10-0 to Onondaga CC.

After jumping out to a 2-0 in the 1st inning, Massasoit scored the next nine runs and led 9-2 heading in the 5th.  The Lady Pioneers rallied to within one with six runs in the 5th but couldn't get any closer and the Warriors scored four insurance runs in the 6th.

Katie Jackson (Troy, PA) was 3 for 4 with a RBI to pace the Lady Pioneer offense while Brooke Gustin (Wellsville) was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.  Alfred was slowed down by seven errors and five walks.

Onondaga held the Lady Pioneers hitless and easily won the nightcap.

The Lady Pioneers take on Brookdale (NJ) CC at 9 a.m. and Finger Lakes CC at 11 a.m.
