Lady Pioneers End Season with Sweep

The Alfred State softball team closed out their 2014 campaign with a sweep of SUNY Delhi on Tuesday.  The Lady Pioneers earned 11-6 and 13-7 victories to end their season with a 13-17 mark.  The 13 wins is the most in a season since 2009.

In the opener, Alfred State exploded for eight runs in the 7th inning to break a 3-3 tie.  Lura O'Keefe (Allegany Limestone) collected three hits and three RBI while Stormi Kruger (Medina) also added three hits.  Kristen Jackson (Keshequa) collected two hits and 3 RBI while Renee Stanford (Canisteo Greenwood) and Lynn Wood (Westfield Academy) each had two hits. Ashlynn Nickerson (Friendship) earned the victory on the mound.

Alfred State scored two in the 1st, five in the 2nd, and scored three in each the 5th and 7th in the nightcap.  O'Keefe collected two hits and 3 RBI while Aubri Mosier (Rome, PA), Jackson, and Wood all finished with two hits.  Taylor McCarthy (Watkins Glen) was the winning pitcher for the blue & gold.

The 2014 Lady Pioneers earned five more wins than the 2013 squad.
