Varela Named ACAA Player of the Week

Marissa Varela (Egg Harbor Twp, NJ) has been named the American Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) Softball Player of the Week.

Varela hit .500 (9-18) with 13 RBI in six games this weekas the Pioneers were 3-3 in their final six games at the Gene Cusic Classic. She recorded three multiple hits and drove in at least one run in every game. Varela capped the week with a monster 3-5, 6 RBI game (3 RBI doubles). For the complete Spring Break trip (10 games) - Varela hit .567 with 20 RBI.

Alix DeDreu, a senior from Thomas More was named the ACAA Pitcher of the Week.

Varela and the Pioneers are slated to head to the Philadelphia, PA region this weekend for a pair of doubleheaders. They take on Cairn on Friday (3 p.m.) and Valley Forge on Saturday (1 p.m.).
