Softball Earns #3 Seed for ACAA Tournament

The Alfred State softball team will host the 2019 ACAA Championship and will be the #3 seed in the tournament. The championships will be held May 4-5 at Pioneer Park above Pioneer Stadium.

The Pioneers who are currently 7-10 on the season will make their debut in the ACAA Tournament. They will take on #2 Finlandia (MI) in their opening game on May 4th. The Lions are currently 7-19 on the year.

The game will start at Noon and will follow the other first round contest between #1 Thomas More (KY) and #4 SUNY Delhi (9-7) that will open up the tournament at 10 a.m. Action on Saturday continues with an elimination game at 2 p.m. (Game 3) on Saturday and the winner's bracket game at 4 p.m (Game 4).

May 5th action starts at 10 a.m. with the winner of Game 3 taking on the loser of Game 4 to determine who will play the undefeated team in the championship. Game one of the Championship is slated for Noon and game two in necessary will begin at 2 p.m.

The teams are determined using the Massey Ratings index through play on Sunday, April 14.

Finlandia claimed the 2018 ACAA Softball Championship with a 5-2 win over UMaine-Presque Isle in Canton, NY.

Game 4: Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2, 4 p.m.

Sunday, May 5th
Game 5: Winner of Game 3 vs. Loser of Game 4, Loser Eliminated, 10 a.m.
Game 6: Championship Game, Winner of Game 4 vs. Winner of Game 5, Noon
Game 7: Second Championship Game (if necessary), 2 pm.
