Softball Finishes Historic Season at AMCC Championship Tournament

The Alfred State softball team finished their historic season 10-24 overall after making their first ever appearance in the AMCC Championship Tournament. They also recorded the most wins in a season in the NCAA era. It is the first time they have recorded double digit wins since the 2015 season.

Brittany Fisher (Indianapolis, IN/Southport) and Lauryn Engle (Elba) were named to the All-Tournament team. 

The No. 6 seeded Pioneers lost 3-0 to the No. 4 seed Medaille College Mavericks (24-15) on the second day of the AMCC championship tournament in Erie, Pa. on Saturday.

The Pioneers recorded 0 runs, 2 hits, 0 RBI and 0 errors.

The Mavericks recorded 3 runs, 13 hits, 3 RBIs and 0 errors.

Pioneer Leaders:

Engle and Felecia Capito (Cuba, NY/Portville) both went 1-for-2.

How it Happened:

The Mavericks scored two in the bottom of the fifth off singles and one in the sixth off a home run.

Pioneer Pitching:

Fisher (L, 7-12) pitched 6 innings and allowed 13 hits and 3 runs. She faced 31 batters and threw 71 pitches, 48 were strikes.
