Men Finish 2nd, Women 3rd at AMCC Championships

The Alfred State swimming team wrapped up a breakthrough season with a strong showing on the final day of the AMCC Championships. The men's team claimed a 2nd place finish while the women earned 3rd.

Nick Beach (Canandaigua) completed the diving sweep with a victory on the 1 m board. He scored 265.15 in the finals. Jackson Teboe (Falconer) was 2nd (201.00) and Tim Berry (Midlakes) was 4th (181.10).

Bryce Cutler (Newton, NJ) was 3rd in the 1650 free (17:45.16), Tim Olin was 3rd in the 200 back (2:03.10), and Ethan Dale (Lock Haven, PA) was 3rd in the 200 breast (2:14.27).

Nate Ciciera (Lake Shore) was 5th in the 100 free (50.55), Tyler La Flamm  (Mexico) was 7th in the 200 back (2:08.72), Patrick McFadden (Midlakes) was 8th in the 1650 free (19:39.68) and 8th in the 200 back (2:40.85), and Brandon Queen (Marion, OH) was 9th in the 200 back (2:23.58)

The 400 free relay team of Olin, Kyle Sporysz (Cuba Rushford), Dale, and Ciciera finished 4th in 3:25.93.

On the men's side, Alfred State scored 400 points and trailed only Penn State Behrend (763). Pitt Bradford scored 393, Penn State Altoona 270, and Cabrini finished with 260.

Alley Sell (Hanover, PA) took home her 2nd individual title with a victory in the 200 breast. She finished in (2:31.85). Teammate Kaileigh Lehman (Beaver River) was 3rd in the 200 breast (2:40.61)

On the driving board, Rebecca Stevens (Wellsville) won the 3 m diving competition with 211.90 points. Sarah Stevens (Wellsville) was 2nd (189.50) and De'Anna Buckley (Bath) was 3rd (162. 15).

Sarah Stevens was 5th in the 200 fly (2:45.93), Myriah Perry (Canisteo Greenwood) was 6th in the 200 back (2:23.40) and 6th in the 200 fly (2:52.56), and Megan Hendershot (Brockport) was 7th in the 1650 free (20:39.05) and 8th in the 200 back (2:21.91).

The 400 free relay team of Sell, Elizabeth Drake (Lansing), Sarah Stevens, and Lehman finished 5th in 3:56.16.

The women's team scored 376 points in the four day competition. The host Penn State Behrend won the team title with 570.5 followed by Cabrini University (494.5). Franciscan was 4th (282), Penn State Altoona 5th (270), and Pitt Bradford 6th (164).

The 2016-17 season was the first that Alfred State has competed in the AMCC.
