Pioneers Complete Day Two of Fredonia Invite

The Alfred State swimming team continued action at the Fredonia Blue Devil Invitational on Saturday. The Pioneer men sit in 7th place after two days with 232 points while the women are in 8th with 143 points.

The divers led the way again on Saturday as Nick Beach (Canandaigua), Austin Miller (Hornell), and Jackson Teboe (Falconer) finished 2nd, 3rd, and 5th in the 1m competition. Beach scored 358 points, Miller 319.7, and Teboe had 302.75 points.

Ethan Dale finished 7th in the 100 breast (1:01.69) while Bryce Cutler (Newton, NJ) won the consolation finals in the 400 IM (4:29.19). Nathan Miller (Gandada) was 11th in the 100 fly (56.85), Tim Olin (Perry) was 11th in the 100 back (57.75), Tyler La Flamm (Mexico) was 12th in the 100 back (58.35) and 14th in the 400 IM (4:47.63).

The 200 medley relay team of Olin, Dale, Cutler, and Ethan Tatro (Lockport) finished in 13th in 1:44.06.

Sarah Stevens (Wellsville) led the women with a 11th place finish in the 400 IM (5:17.94). Kathryn Lewis (Sanborn/Niagara Wheatfield) was 12th in the 200 free (2:04.11), Lauren Earley (Waterford/Shenendehowa) was 13th in the 100 back (1:04.83), Kaileigh Lehman (Lowville/Beaver River) was 14th in the 100 breast (1:16.01), and Elizabeth Furmanski (Albion) was 15th in the 400 IM (5:51.73).

Earley, Lehman, Payton Armstrong (Highland Mills/Monroe Woodbury), and Stevens combined to finish 12th in the 200 medley relay. The touched in 2:01.83.

The final day of the three day event begins at 10 a.m. with preliminaries and concludes with the finals at 5 p.m.
