Pioneers Win 14 Events at Allegany County Classic
The Alfred State track and field team won 14 events at the Allegany County Classic on Wednesday afternoon. The event hosted by Houghton also featured athletes from Alfred University.
Victoire Kothor (Greece Odyssey) and Joseph Richardson (Geneva) were double individual event winners. Kothor wo n the shot put (13.29 m) and the discus (36.44) while Richardson won the long jump (6.09) and the triple jump (12.77).
Other individual event winners include:
- Mariah Smith (Hornell) won the 1,500 in 5:26.04
- Angel Bresnahan (Mexico) won the long jump with a leap of 5.01 m
- Haley Anderson (Lyondonville) won the hammer throw with a toss of 34.55 m
- Kyle Jones (Wilson) won the 800 in 2:03.18
- Michael Girard (Phoenix) won the 1500 in 4:39.05
- Jake Hawley (Susquehanna) won the 110 hurdles in 17.59
- Trevor Stiles (Hornell) won the 400 hurdles in 1:01.93
- Brandon Teboe (Falconer) won the pole vault with a leap of 3.80 m
The men's 4x400 relay team of Mitchell Marcin (Frontier), Zach Curran (Williamson), Stiles, and Jones won in 4:04.69 while the women's 4x400 relay team of Maddi McDonald (Lansing), Brianna Byrnes (Jordan Elbridge), Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville), and Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls) won in 5:11.66.
The Pioneers head to the University of Rochester on Saturday to compete in the Yellowjacket Spring Invitational.
