Men Finish 2nd, Women 4th at USCAA Championships

The Alfred State men's outdoor track & field team finished 2nd at the USCAA Championships while the women finished 4th. Ten teams within the USCAA competed at SUNY Delhi.

Jacob Hanss (East Rochester), Zach Curran (Williamson) and Anders Presthus (Lansing) won individual titles for the Pioneers. Hanss was 1st in the steeplechase (10:08.18), Curran won the pole vault (4.20 m), and Presthus won the shot put (13.98 m). Presthus was also 2nd in the discus (41.71 m), 2nd in the hammer throw (39.92 m). and 3rd in the javelin (43.10 m).

Eric Hulbert (Mexico) was 2nd in the steeplechase (10:21.59) and 3rd in the 5000 (17:08.34) while Jesse Hallett (Honeoye) was 2nd in the 10,000 (36:42.08).

Trevor Stiles (Hornell) was 3rd in the 400 hurdles (1:00.54, Tim Jackson (Buffalo/Charter School for Applied Tech) was 3rd in the 100 (11.69) and the 200 (23.85), and Caleb Boyce-Wright (Cheektowaga/John Kennedy) was 4th in the 400 (2:04.11).

In the pole vault, Bradon Teboe (Falconer) was 3rd (3.90 m) and Andrew Ruebenstahl (Washingtonville) was 4th (3.75 m) while in the hammer throw Tristen Prine (Avon) was 3rd (25.41), Bryce Chapman (Geneseo) was 4th (23.93 m), Ryan McFarland (Waverly) was 5th (23.79 m), and Timothy Burns (Churchville) was 6th (22.41 m).

The 4x400 relay team was 3rd in 3:41.41

Delhi took the men's title with 262 to finish ahead of Alfred State's 156.5. Cleary (MI) was 3rd (84), Maine Fort Kent was 4th (52), and Penn State Brandywine (41).

On the women's side, Rebecca Stevens (Wellsville) won the pole vault (2.01 m) while the 4x800 relay team won in 11:07.86. Steffanie Preston (Groton) was 2nd in the javelin (29.33 m), Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls) was 3rd in the same event (27.83 m).

The 4x100 relay finished 3rd (57.81), Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) ws 4th in the 5000 (19:54.92), and Kelly Helay (Maple Hill) was 5th in the 800 (2:35.02).

Delhi took the women's title with 233 points followed by Albany College of Pharmacy (128) and Cleary (94). Alfred State scored 61 points to earn 4th out of the ten teams that competed.

Fiore and Tim Berry (Midlakes) will head to the NYSCTC Multi Championship to compete Sunday and Monday.
