Pioneer Multi Athletes after a successful 1st meet

Impressive Performances in Season Opener

The Alfred State indoor track & team had several impressive performances as they opened up their season at the Brockport Early Season Invitational. The Pioneer men finished 5th out of nine teams with 39.83 points while the women finished 8th.

Andrew Ruebenstahl (Washingtonville) finished 3rd in the heptathlon, Tim Berry (Midlakes) was 4th, and Alex Brown (Wellsville) finished 6th. Ruebenstahl entered the second day of competition in 3rd place and maintained his position. He finished the seven events with 3,621 points. His best result of day two was in the pole vault where he earned 603 points with a leap of 3.95 m. His overall score is now 6th all-time in school history. Berry moved up three spots on day two and finished the competition with 3,539 points (9th all-time). His time of 3:04.55 in the 1,000 earned him 620 points. Brown finished with 3,472 points in the competition (10th all-time). His time of 3:03.96 earned him 626 points in the 1,000.

In other events:

  • Zack Goodwin was 7th in the 60 hurdles (9.28) and tied for 8th in the high jump (1.63 m) in his first collegiate track meet.
  • Nicholas Brown (Wellsville) was 7th in the high jump (1.68 m) and 11th in the long jump (5.21 m).
  • Conrad Kroll (Westtown/Minisink) Valley) was 9th in the 1 miile (5:13.01).
  • Nate Robertson (Hamburg) was 10th in the 400 m (54.97).
  • Isiah Richardson (Geneva) was 10th in the long jump (5.83 m).
  • Dylan Perlino (Holland) was 10th in the weight throw with a throw of 12.82 m.
  • The 4x400 relay finished 9th in 3:48.12

Katherine Frascella (Franklinville) was 8th in the 1 mile in 6:16.35, Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville) was 10th in the 400 m in 1:08.69, and Olivia Leonti (Port Byron) was 11th in the 800 in 2:46.24. A day after a 10th place finish in the pentathlon, Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls) was 14th in the long jump with a leap of 4.55 m.

The Pioneers return to action on Friday when they travel down the road to the Kerr Pegula Athletic Complex on the campus of Houghton for a 4 p.m. meet.
