Track & Field Opens up Outdoor Season

The Alfred State outdoor track & field team opened up the season competing at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational on Saturday. Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) led the way with two top three finishes.

Kemsley was 3rd in the shot put with a toss of 14.41 m and 3rd in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.64 m. His toss in the hammer throw is 2nd in school history.

The men's 4x100 relay team of Joe Moscato (Valley Stream/Kellenberg), Mandel Green (Rochester/Eastridge), Eric Zamor (New York/Ramapo), and Chadwick Ekeigwe (Spring Valley/Ramapo) was 7th in 46.99 while the team of Jhamel Cohen (Brooklyn/South Shore), Kaieel Ward (New York/Thomas Jefferson), Fidelis Olom (Bronx/Health & Science Center), and Joe Richardson (Geneva) was 8th in 47.00.

Isiah Richardson (Geneva) was 6th in the triple jump with a leap of 12.23 m while his brother Joe was 14th in the long jump (6.00 m). Anders Presthus (Lansing) was 10th (13.24 m).

The women's 4x100 relay team of Sophie Gonzalez, Dominique Shirley, Shannon Shirley, and Alexis Carrington (Manhattan/NYC iSchool) finished 6th in 54.33. Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls) was 15th in the javelin with a toss of 22.72 m.

The blue & gold will head down the road to Houghton on Tuesday to compete in the annual Allegany County Classic. The first event is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
