Multi Athletes Score Big Points at Hillsdale

A contingent of five Alfred State multi-athletes traveled to Hillsdale College to compete in the "GINA" relays. All five placed and scored points in the event.

Tim Berry (Midlakes) led the way for the men in the decathlon by finishing 2nd. He scored 4,834 points which is now 10th best in school history. Berry scored his most points in the pole vault with a leap of 3.90 m (590 points). He scored 516 in the 100 m dash (12.72) and 512 points in the long jump (5.65 m.)

Joe Richardson (Geneva) was 3rd with 4,654 points while Andrew Ruebenstahl (Washingtonville) was 5th with 4,378 points. Richardson scored 695 points in the 100 m dash (11.78) and 580 points in the long jump (5.97 m). Ruebenstahl scored 602 points in the high jump (1.77 m) and 562 points in the pole vault (3.80 m).

On the women's side Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls) was 6th with 3,154 points. Her point total is 4th best in school history. Fiore scored 599 points in the 200 m (28.41), 502 points in the high jump (1.39 m), and 441 points in the javelin (28.11 m). Marissa Sly (N. Tonawanda) was 7th overall with 2,358 points. 

The 52nd annual GINA Relays attracts ore than 1,000 talented track athletes. The field of athletes is a wide-ranging one featuring schools that compete in all levels of the NCAA, NJCAA, and NAIA.

The men scored 14 points in the competiton while the women scored five.

The full Pioneer squad will head to St. John Fisher for the Cardinal Invitational tomorrow starting at 9:30 a.m.
