Track & Field Team Ready for ECAC Championships
The Alfred State outdoor track & field will look to cap a successful season as they compete in the ECAC Championships at Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD) this week. A total of 14 athletes will compete in the two-day event that begins tomorrow (5/16).
The Pioneers multi team will be well represented in the event. The quartet of Tim Berry (Midlakes), Alex Brown (Wellsville), Joe Richardson (Geneva), and Andrew Ruebenstahl (Washingtonville) will compete in the decathlon. Berry enters the competition with the best score of the season for Alfred State. He scored 4,834 points at the Hillldale "GINA" Relays. Brown scored 4,743 at the Cortland Classic, Richardson 4,654 at the "GINA" Relays, and Ruebenstahl scored 4,378.
The trio of Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls), Emily Brigman (Lancaster), and Marissa Sly (N. Tonawanda) will compete in the heptathlon. Fiore leads the team with a performance of 3,154 points at the "GINA" Relays. Brigman scored 2,915 points at Cortland while Sly scored 2,358 points at Hillsdale. Brigman will also compete in the high jump. Her top performance this year is 1.46 m.
Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) and Anders Presthus (Lansing) will try to score some team points in three events. Kemsley has solid performances all year long and will compete in the shot put (14.41 m), the discus (49.79 m), and the hammer throw (48.93 m). Presthus caps his collegiate career in the shot put (13.52 m), the discus (42.07 m), and the hammer (44.60 m). Dylan Perlino (Holland) will compete in the hammer (43.87 m) and the discus (39.61 m) while Isiah Richardson (Geneva) will compete in the discus (37.80 m).
Berry (4.00 m) and Ruebenstahl (3.90 m) will also compete in the pole vault competition while Isiah Richardson (6.37 m) will compete in the long jump. The Pioneers 4x800 relay team will also compete boasting a time of 8:36.74.
