Richardson Sits in 1st after Day One of ECAC Decathlon
Alfred State senior Joe Richardson (Geneva) sits in 1st place after day one of competition in the decathlon at the ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Johns Hopkins University.
Richardson leads the field after the first day (five events) of the decathlon with 3,067 points. He scored 695 points in the 100 m dash (11.78) and won the long jump competition with a leap of 6.25 m (641 points). He also scored 602 points in the 400 with a time of 54.91.
Tim Berry (Midlakes) sits in 6th place with 2,488 points and Andrew Ruebenstahl (Washingtonville) is 7th with 2,475 points. Berry scored the most points in day one in the long jump (556 points) with a leap of 556 points while Ruebenstahl scored 571 points in the 100 m dash by crossing the finish line in 12.42.
In the heptathlon, Emily Brigman (Lancaster) is in 9th place after four events with 1,923 points. She scored 639 points in the 100 m hurdles with a performance of 16.63. She scored 584 points in the 200 (28.60). Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls) is in 10th with 1,901 points. Her top scoring performance was in the 200 where she scored 587 points (28.56). Marissa Sly (N. Tonawanda) is in 13th with 1,570 points.
In the hammer throw, Anders Presthus (Lansing) was 7th (45.63 m) and Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) was 8th (45.24 m).
The second day of the ECAC Championships begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow at John Hopkins.
