2015 Alfred State End of the Year Awards

Recently the Alfred State athletic department hosted their annual end of year awards ceremony. The ceremony held in the Cappadonia Auditorium featured recaps of every team, award presentations, and the honoring of the first group of four-year Pioneer student athletes.
Witchella Named USCAA All-American, Preston All-Academic

Alfred State senior Haley Witchella (Oxford) was named a 1st team USCAA All-American during the National Championships in March. Sophomore Steffanie Preston (Groton) was also honored during the championship banquet by being named to the USCAA All-Academic Team.

Haley Witchella (Oxford) has been named to the USCAA National Championship All-tournament team. Witchella recorded double-doubles in both of the Lady Pioneers contests at the championships.
Late Run Lifts Berea over Alfred State

Berea used a 16-1 run in the final 6:38 to earn a spot in the USCAA Division I Championship game with a 71-56 victory over Alfred State. The Lady Pioneers led for most of the first 33 minutes of the contest.
Lady Pioneers Win Double OT Thriller

The Alfred State women's basketball team won a thrilling double-overtime contest, 84-79, over #2 seed Iowa Wesleyan in the quarterfinals of the USCAA Divison I tournament. The Lady Pioneers advance to the semifinals to take on #3 Berea on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Lady Pioneers Roll to Regular Season Finale Victory

The Alfred State women's basketball team rolled to a 70-32 victory over Davis College on Tuesday as they wrapped up the regular season. The Lady Pioneers, ranked #4 in the latest USCAA DI poll, are now 18-6 on the year.

The Alfred State women's basketball team began the 2nd half on a 20-2 run and outscored the Kangaroos 42-19 in the half en route to a 75-55 victory to close out the home portion of the season. The Lady Pioneers, ranked #4 in the USCAA, improve to 17-6 on the season.

The Alfred State women's basketball team climbed up one more spot in the lastest USCAA poll. The 16-6 Lady Pioneers are now ranked #4 in the last regular season poll of the season.

The Alfred State women's basketball team recorded their 16th victory of the season with a hard fought 71-68 victory over Niagara CCC. The Lady Pioneers, ranked #5 in the USCAA, improve to 16-6 on the year while NCCC is now 20-5.

Briana Meehan (Whitesville) scored a game high 26 but the Alfred State women's basketball team could not overcome a twelve point 2nd half deficit and fell 69-65 to Finlandia (MI) University.

The Alfred State women's basketball team used a 14-0 run to start the 2nd half to expand a two-point halftime lead en route to a 62-50 victory over Rochester (MI) College. The Lady Pioneers improve to 15-5 on the year and have won 10 of their 12 contests in 2015.

The Alfred State women's basketball team moved up to #5 in the latest USCAA poll. The Lady Pioneers have won nine of their eleven games in 2015 and are 14-5 on the season.
