Bialecki Named USCAA Player of the Year

Alfred State sophomore center Catherine Bialecki (Alfred Almond) was named the USCAA Division I Player of the Year last week at the National Championship banquet. On top of being named Player of the Year, Bialecki was a 1st team All-American selection.

Bialecki had a monster season in which she scored 523 points, grabbed 307 rebounds, and blocked 105 shots. Her 20.1 points and 4.0 blocks per game led Division I of the USCAA and her 11.8 rebounds per game was 4th. Her point total is 4th most in a single season in Alfred State history, her rebounds are 6th all-time, and her blocks are 3rd all time.

On the season, Bialecki scored in double figures 24 times, scored 20 or more in 14 games, and scored 30 or more four times. She had a season high 35 points at Delhi. She grabbed at least 10 rebounds 15 times and had a season high 21 rebounds twice, vs. Villa Maria and vs. Pine Manor. On the year, she recorded 15 double-doubles.

Earlier in the season, Bialecki was been named the Association of DIII Independents Player of the Week four times, the USCAA Player of the Week once, and the MVP of the ACAA Tournament.

For her career, Bialecki has scored 705 points (17.6 per game), grabbed 414 rebounds (10.4 per game), and blocked 132 shots. Her 705 points is 14th all-time.

Bialecki was a second team USCAA All-American last season and becomes the first Alfred State athlete to earn a Player of the Year honor from the USCAA.
