Pioneers Fall to Blue Devils

Fredonia shot 43.5% from the field as they defeated Alfred State 74-49 on Tuesday evening.

Fredonia started the contest on a 13-2 run and led 25-13 after one quarter. The Pioneers trailed 38-20 but rallied to score the final 11 points of the half to make it a seven point game, 38-31, at the half. The Blue Devils came out of halftime and put the game out of reach with another 13-2 run. 

Catherine Bialecki (Alfred Almond) led the blue & gold with another double-double. She finished with 25 points, 11 boards, and four blocks, Janae Gibson (Bronx/Pelham Prep) came off the bench and had 12 points and eight boards.

Jenna Einink led three Blue Devils in double figures with 15. Jacque Law finished with 13 (9 for 10 from the foul line) while Alisha Szumigala chipped in 11 points and six boards.

The Pioneers shot 32.3% from the field while the Blue Devils shot 43.5%. Fredonia held a 44 to 37 advantage on the boards and forced the Pioneers into 25 turnovers.

The Pioneers wrap up the 2017 portion of their season on Friday evening when they host Carlow. Opening tip-off is at 7 p.m.
