Bialecki Named All-ACAA 1st team, Gibson & Anderson Named Honorable Mention
Alfred State center Catherine Bialecki (Alfred Almond) has been named All-ACAA 1st team while teammates Janae Gibson (Bronx/Pelham Prep) and Rayanna Anderson (Wellsville) were named honorable mention. The trio led the Pioneers to a 7-6 record in the 2018 portion of their season and an overall mark of 9-13.
Bialecki started in all 22 of the Pioneers contests and led the team in points, rebounds, and blocks. She finished the year with 436 points (19.8 per game), 260 rebounds (11.8 per game), and 100 blocks (4.5 per game). She recorded 16 double-doubles on the year.
On the year she scored in double-figures in 21 games, had more than 20 points in 11 games, and had 30 or more points in two games. She had a season high 32 points at SUNY Poly, a season best 18 rebounds at SUNY Delhi, and a registered a high of nine blocks vs. Maine Fort Kent. During the season she became the third person in program history to eclipse the 1,000 point mark. She is 2nd all-time in the scoring list with 1,141 points.
During the regular season, Bialecki was named the ACAA Player of the Week five times.
Gibson had a solid first season wearing the blue and gold. The junior transfer averaged 10.1 points per game and 9.1 rebounds. She scored in double figures in 11 games, recorded 10 or more boards in nine games, and recorded double-doubles in eight games. Her season high came in her first game of the year when she scored 26 points and grabbed 19 rebounds.
Anderson saw action in 19 games and made 16 starts this season. She averaged 9.2 points per game (175 total) and 5.6 assists (106 total). She scored in double figures nine times during the season and recorded three double-doubles. She had a season high 22 points vs. Buffalo State and a season best 12 assists vs. Carlow.
