Shaulis Sisters Score In Double Figures

The Shaulis sisters both scored in double figures as Alfred State lost a 60-43 battle at Houghton on Tuesday evening. The duo combined to score 25 points.

Houghton led 13-11 after the 1st quarter but the Pioneers rallied to take a 20-17 lead halfway through the 2nd quarter. The Highlanders ended the 1st half on a 11-2 run and never gave up the lead. They led 44-32 after three and pushed their lead to as many as 19 in the 4th quarter.

Kelsey Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) led the Pioneers with 15 points while her sister Skylar Shaulis came off the bench and chipped in 10. Emily Kelley (Wellsville) had six points and nine boards.

Madison Detwiler led Houghton (3-1) with 12 points off the bench. The Highlanders had seven players with at least six points in the game.

The blue & gold shot only 27.9% from the field, 22.2% from three, and was 5 for 6 from the foul line while the Highlanders shot 40% from the field, 40% from three, and was 8 for 10 from the foul line. Houghton held a 43 to 38 advantage on the boards.

The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday when they host Hilbert at 1 p.m.
