Emily Kelley (Wellsville) led Alfred State with 16 points as the Pioneers couldn't overcome a slow start in a 71-52 loss at Utica on Sunday.
Utica jumped out to an early lead and led 18-4 after the 1st quarter. They led 39-22 at half and 59-37 after three. ASC outscored Utica 15-12 in the final ten minutes.
Kelley led the Pioneers with 16 points and had a team high nine boards. Rayanna Anderson (Wellsville) also finished in double figures with 13. Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) came off the bench and had nine while her sister Kelsey Shaulis chipped in eight.
Sydney Przygoda led Utica (4-2) with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Brigid Johndrow finished with 16 and Nicolette Conkin added 12.
