Three Score in Double Figures vs. Poly

Jordyn Pettit (Wellsville), Kelsey Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca), and Rayanna Anderson (Wellsville) all finished in double figures as Alfred State battled SUNY Poly tough. The Wildcats were able to pull away in the 2nd half and earned a 76-56 victory.

After ten minutes the Pioneers and Wildcats were knotted up at 15-15. The Pioneers led 27-23 halfway through the 2nd before SUNY Poly finished the quarter on a 13-4 run to lead by five, 36-31, at the half. Alfred State held their final lead of the game, 41-40, with 7:37 remaining in the 3rd after a three-pointer by Anderson. The Wildcats answered with a 8-0 run and led by 12, 58-46, at the half. They didn't let the Pioneers closer than eight the rest of the way.

Petit recorded her third straight double-double finishing with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Kelsey Shaulis finished with 13 points and five assists while Anderson connected on 4 three-pointers and finished with 12 points, six assists, and five boards. Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) added seven points while Emily Benes (Buffalo/Mount Mercy) added six points, eight rebounds, and six assists.

Molly Burdick had a big game for SUNY Poly (8-4). She finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Kiersten Leos hit 5 three-pointers and also finished with 17. Shannan Harrison chipped in 11 off the bench for the Wildcats.

Alfred State shot 34.8% (24 for 69) from the field, 25% (5 for 20) from three, and was 3 for 5 from the foul line while SUNY Poly shot 44.1% (30 for 68) from the field, 38.1% (8 for 21) from three, and 66.7% (8 for 12) from the foul line.

The blue & gold are back on the court on Wednesday when they host Medaille for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
