Pettit, Anderson, and Shaulis Score in Double Figures vs. Canton

A trio of Pioneers scored in double figures as Alfred State lost a tight 75-65 contest at SUNY Canton on Tuesday afternoon. The contest featured 12 ties and seven lead changes.

The 1st quarter featured back and forth action. The Pioneers held a five-point lead, 20-15, late in the quarter but headed into the 2nd with a 23-20 advantage. Canton took a five point lead in the 2nd quarter, 30-25, after starting the quarter on a 10-2 run. The two teams headed into the break knotted up at 38-38.

In the 3rd quarter the Roos were able to push the lead out to 10 points by outscoring the Pioneers 18-8. Canton pushed the lead to as many as 13 but the blue & gold fought back but couldn't get any closer than seven the rest of the way.

Jordan Pettit (Wellsville) led the team with 18 points and recorded her fifth straight double-double with 17 rebounds. Rayanna Anderson (Wellsville) finished with 17 points (5 for 12 from three) and passed out nine assists while Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) finsihed with 14. Kelsey Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) added eight points.

The Pioneers shot 33.3% from the field and hit 10 of 28 three point attempts. 

Breanna Cullers led the Roos with 24 points while Antanasia Chambers recorded a big double-double with 16 points and 19 rebounds. Jenifer Morgan-Aubin (13) and Autumn Watkins (10) also finished in double-figures.

The blue & gold are right back in action on Thursday when they head to Buffalo to take on Villa Maria. Opening tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
