Pettit Grabs 23 Boards vs. Behrend

Jordyn Pettit (Wellsville) had a monster double-double as Alfred State tangled with Penn State Behrend on Wednesday evening. The Lions used a balanced attack to earn the 71-57 victory.

The 1st half was a back and forth affair featuring seven ties and eight lead changes. The Lions led 17-15 after the 1st and 32-27 at the break. They were able to take control of the game in the 3rd by forcing ten Pioneer turnovers. 

Pettit finished the night with 12 points and 23 rebounds. 20 of her rebounds were on the defensive glass. She also blocked shots and was credited with two steals. Kelsey Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) led the team with 13 points while Rayanna Anderson (Wellsville) had 11 points. Emily Kelley (Andover) finished the day with 7 points and 10 rebounds.

Alanna Dibble led the Lions (12-8, 9-6 AMCC) with 20 points and eight boards. Kara Haslett had 11 points while Caitlin Carnuche and Ashley Seamon both finished with 10 points.

Alfred State shot 36.1% from the floor but was slowed down by 25 turnovers. Penn State Behrend shot 34.5% from the floor and connected on five 3-pointers.

The Pioneers host Franciscan on Saturday for a 4 p.m. contest. Prior to the game the Pioneers will honor Anderson and Kelsey Shaulis who will be completing their careers this month.
