Four Pioneers double-double in win over Pitt.-Bradford

Four Pioneers recorded double-doubles in the Alfred State women's basketball 83-79 win over Pitt. Bradford Wednesday evening inside Orvis Activities Center.

Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) led the way with 17 points and 11 rebounds, Emily Kelley (Andover) added 14 points with 10 rebounds, Janna Pena (Brooklyn/ACLA) recorded 13 points with a team-high 15 rebounds, My'ana Davis (Greece Athena) logged 10 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists and Calesta Reigelman (Johnson City) had ten points.

The Pioneers (5-3, 2-0 AMCC) out-rebounded the Panthers (2-7, 0-1 AMCC) 62-38 and they recorded 64.3% in free throws. Pena went 5-for-6 and Kelley went 4-for-5 in free throws.

Alfred State held Pitt. Bradford to one point for the opening 12 minutes and took their largest lead of 15 points in the first quarter.

The Panthers out-scored the Pioneers 26-22 in the second quarter and Alfred State went into halftime leading 40-35.

Both teams recorded 25 points in the third quarter and Pitt. Bradford out-scored Alfred State 19-18 in the fourth quarter but the Pioneers work in the first quarter helped them prevail and take the win.

The Pioneers are on the road Saturday, Dec. 11 to play Mt. Aloysius in a conference game at 2 p.m.
