Pioneers Force OT With Last Second Shot

The Alfred State Women's Basketball team fell just short in a 63-54 loss to Pitt.- Bradford. The Pioneers were down 48-51 with seven seconds left in regulation. A last second Calesta Reigelman (Johnson City, NY / Johnson City) three-point make forced overtime for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers trailed after each of the first three quarters and found themselves down ten going into halftime 26-16.  A slow start for Alfred State out of halftime saw Pitt.- Bradford's lead grow to 15 points before Alfred State began their comeback run.

Down nine points going into the fourth quarter, Alfred State brought the lead down to three with 2-minutes remaining. After some back and forth buckets by both teams, the Pioneers found themselves down a possession with seven seconds remaining. A 30-second timeout by Alfred State made way for Reigelman's last-second game-tying three-pointer, forcing the Panthers to OT.

Alfred State was outscored in overtime 12-3, eventually falling to Pitt.- Bradford after the strong comeback effort.

Falyn Lewis-Ellison (Rexville, NY / Whitesville Central School) had a team-high 12 points for Alfred State. Lewis-Ellison also snagged nine rebounds and tallied a game-high five steals. Faith McCombs (Amityville, NY / Copaigue) had another strong showing for the Pioneers. McCombs notched another double-double with 11 points and 16 boards.

Alfred State is back in action on Saturday as they host Mount Aloysius in a 3 p.m. game.
