Pioneers Fall Short Against Mount

The Alfred State Women's Basketball team lost today to Mount Aloysius 62-52. The Pioneers fell just short in what was a close game throughout.

After falling behind 10-0 early in the first quarter, the Pioneers cut the deficit to four points with one minute remaining in the quarter. The second half saw the Pioneers gain even more ground, ending the half down only one 27-26. The Pioneers were outscored 35-26 in the second half as the Mounties made five three-pointers to secure the game.

Calesta Reigelman (Johnson City, NY / Johnson City) was the leading scorer for the Pioneers. After going 5-6 from deep, Reigelman finished with 16 points. All five of her three-pointers came in the first half. She also had four rebounds and a steal. Falyn Lewis-Ellison (Rexville, NY / Whitesville) was the other Pioneer with double-digit scoring. Lewis-Ellison had ten points, six rebounds and five assists.

The Pioneers are back in action at home on Wednesday, as they host Penn.- St. Behrend in a 7 p.m. match-up.
