Pioneers Wrap up Regular Season
The Alfred State wrestling team won three matches but was slowed down by three forfeits as they closed out the regular season with a 35-12 loss to Mercyhurst North East.
The Pioneers fell behind 23-0 following two forfeits and two Saints victories before Tyler Aldinger (Alexander) earned a 9-6 victory over Nick Miller at 157 lbs.
MNE won the next match at 165 before Conner Fox (Midlakes) pinned Kojo Boadu in 3:24 at 174 lbs. After the Pioneers final forfeit, Travis Harvey (Alfred Almond) earned a hard fought 6-4 victory over Douglas Lowry at 197 to make it 32-12.
In the final match, Dan Ognibene (Alexander) and Lorenzo Maddox battled into overtime before Maddox earned a 5-3 sudden victory decision.
The Pioneeers have just over a week off before heading to Mercyhurst North East on February 10th for the Region III/Northeast District Championships.
