Wrestlers Finish 6th at Brockport

The Alfred State wrestling team opened up the 2016 portion of their season with a 6th place finish at the Brockport Invitational. Michael Boyle (Cooperstown) led the way with a 2nd place finish at 125 lbs.

Boyle started his day in the 125 lb competition with a pin of Brandon Tran (John Hopkins) in 1:20 to advance to the semifinals. He pinned Kyle Kelly (Binghamton) in 3:00 to advance to the finals where he was defeated by Asher Kramer.

Ryan Thierman (Portville) finished 4th in the 125 lb. bracket. He fell to Kramer in the quarterfinals but rebounded to pin Kelly in 3:56 to advance to the 3rd place match. In the 3rd place match he fell to Joe Nelson (Binghamton).

Nathan Sisler (Ballston Spa) finished 5th in the 174 lb. bracket. Sisler finished the day 2-2 with a 20-2 victory over Alex Mongillo and a pin of Andrew McCahill (Trinity) in 1:16 in the 5th place match.

The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday when they host Penn State DuBois in their first dual meet of 2016.
