George Van Valen (Ithaca) capped an amazing career at Alfred State by winning the National Title at the 2018 NCWA Championships in Allen, TX. Teammate Ryan Mattison (Brockport) earned 5th place in the heavyweight bracket.

Seven members of the Alfred State wrestling team have traveled to Allen, TX to compete in the NCWA National Championships. Nationals begin tomorrow (3/8) and run until a champion is crown on Saturday (3/10) evening.
Pioneers Finish 2nd, Van Valen and Galton Claim Individual Titles

The Alfred State wrestling team finished 2nd overall out of 14 teams at the NCWA North East Conference Championships at the University of New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon. George Van Valen (Ithaca) and Mike Galton (Warsaw) took home individual weight class titles. Seven Pioneers finished in the top three of their weight class.

The scheduled Alfred State wrestling match on Wednesday (2/7) vs. Lycoming has been postponed due to a winter storm forecasted for the area. The match will now take place on Wednesday, February 14th at 7 p.m.
