Pioneers Complete AMCC Sweep with Win Over Penn State Behrend
The Alfred State wrestling team completed the AMCC sweep after defeating Penn State Behrend 49-0 on Friday evening inside Orvis Gymnasium.
The Pioneers improve to 8-3 in dual matches and recorded their 100th pin of the season.
Brandon Tanner (Rush, NY / Rush Henrietta) and Jaden Hansen (Newburgh Free) started the night off with wins by forfeit at 125 and 133 respectively.
Anthony Miraglia (Byron Bergen) battled his way to a 9-5 decision at 149 for a 15-0 lead.
Ryan Nugent (Newfane) pinned his opponent in 42 seconds at 157.
Benjamin Rivera (Carmel) won by forfeit at 165.
Cale Bartosch (Palmyra Macedon) won by a quick pin in 28 seconds at 174.
Tyler Pelech (Ridge) also won by a quick pin in 32 seconds at 184.
Blake Ilges (Canisteo Greenwood) won by an 11-1 major decision at 197.
Nicholas Barrett (Avoca) won by pin in 2:56 at 285.
The Pioneers honored Loujerry Etienne (Brooklyn /New Visions), Mike Galton (Warsaw) and Miraglia in a senior day ceremony before their match.
The Pioneers head to Berea, Ohio for the John Summa Invitational hosted by Baldwin Wallace on Saturday, Feb. 5.
