Late Goal Lifts Bradford

Delaney Houtz placed a shot into the far corner of the net after getting a crossing pass from Kaitlyn Donnelly with 6:23 remaining in the contest to lift Pitt Bradford to a 2-1 victory over Alfred State on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers improve to 2-1-1 on the year while the Lady Pioneers suffer their first loss (3-1).

Bradford got on the board in the 22nd minute when a corner kick hit the cross bar and bounced around the box. The ball went into net off a Pioneer defender.

The Lady Pioneers evened the game up in the 57th minute on a pretty passing play. Stormi Kruger (Medina) fed Brooke Geibel (Arkport) with a long lead pass who found Michayla Salatel (Geneseo) in the middle. Salatel was able to flick the ball into the back of the net for her 7th goal on the year.

Both teams had chances to score but couldn't capitalize until the Panthers scored the game winner in the 84th minute.

Alfred State held a 17-15 shot advantage in the contest (13-11 in the 2nd half). Sarah Dailey made seven saves to record the victory while Allison Danielak (Brockport) made seven saves.

The Lady Pioneers hit the road for their next three contests. They next play on Wednesday when they travel to Keystone College for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
